Only a few applications are built into Windows XP for Tablet PC specifically for the Tablet PC environment, and Microsoft Windows Journal is one of them. Journal is quite simply handwriting heaven. Here you can write directly in a Journal document - no Input Panel between you and what appears there. And you have more tools for working with handwritten content than you get in Office applications on your Tablet PC.

You may just start keeping a whole library of handwritten notes you can file and search. (Creative writers, researchers, and people who live in meetings, take note!) You can use a Music template to hand write music on preformatted music staffs or a Monthly Calendar template to jot down all your appointments for the month.

But wait. There's more! You can take your handwriting - letters, numbers, and even drawn shapes - and convert them to printed text or perfect geometric objects. You can even send your Journal notes as text e-mails.
