Creating a Template from a Meeting Workspace


After the site is customized, it can be made into a template if the format and design will be used frequently. The steps for making a customized site into a template are as follows:

1.

After all customizations are made to the site, select Site Settings from the site that is to be made into a template. This is typically available from the Modify This Workspace drop down menu.

Select Go to Site Administration, which brings up the Site Administration page for the meeting workspace.

3.

Select Save Site as a Template in the Management and Statistics section.

4.

Enter a name and description for the site template.

5.

If the template is to include all data stored in the lists on the site, check the Include Content box.

6.

Click OK, and the site is saved as a template. The site appears on the list of templates when creating a new site.

Once this has been completed, you will be informed the Operation Completed Successfully and have an option to go to the site template gallery. Figure 13.15 shows a sample template gallery after a multipage meeting workspace has been saved to it. Note from the URL that this gallery exists on the parent site collection under which the workspace was created. If the site title is clicked on (in this case MPMW) the user will be given the option to save the template locally. It can then be uploaded to another site collection.
