While you don't have to write your ColdFusion code with ColdFusion Studio, you won't find a better tool to do so. ColdFusion Studio offers a breadth of dedicated, proprietary tools, wizards, and templates that make it a must-have for ColdFusion developers. Some of these, in addition to working specifically with ColdFusion, will offer you some assistance with HTML development as well. This is important because CFML (ColdFusion Markup Language) and HTML go hand in hand when developing an application. Many of the "one-click" tools that we'll look at anticipate common programming needs and actions and eliminate the need for repetitive coding. In this book, you will use ColdFusion Studio to edit all of your ColdFusion pages. ColdFusion Studio is the Macromedia application for creating ColdFusion applications. Version 5 ships with new features and tools to work with the latest version of ColdFusion.
To get started with Studio (before delving into functions, variables , output, and other "meaty" coding issues), we'll install it (of course) and explore both configuration options and actual coding tools that can speed and streamline the Studio workflow. To that end, in this lesson you will adapt your ColdFusion Studio interface to suit your needs and begin to use the built-in "one-click" (or close to it) tools that make simple and repetitive coding tasks easy. You'll also learn how to use the Search and Replace feature for quick editing, and set up the program to interact seamlessly with Dreamweaver or UltraDev. WHAT YOU WILL LEARN In this lesson, you will:
