The remainder of this chapter describes the general-purpose I/O functions defined by ANSI/ISO Standard C++. As explained, the Standard C++ I/O system is built upon an intricate hierarchy of template classes. Many of the members of the low-level classes are not used for application programming. Thus, they are not described here.
