Wrapping Up

Printing can be a complex topic, but Windows XP includes the tools and features that you need for effective printing. Using Windows XP, you can easily install a local or shared network printer, and you can even access print servers over the Internet. Printer properties give you a number of options for managing printers, and print permissions are easy and straightforward. As you work with printing in your environment as an A+ technician, you may find yourself in charge of print servers running on Windows XP. Just keep in mind that all documents can be controlled through the print queue. Also, when configuring shared printer access, remember to keep things as simple and straightforward as possible.

In the next chapter, we’ll turn our attention to networking with Windows XP.
