I Can't Record

When I try to record a software instrument, the song stops playing and I see a dialog telling me that part of the song was not played.

This can happen when there are too many tracks or effects included in a song for it to be played in real time while recording. Click Continue to close the dialog and move back to the Timeline. You have three choices. You can try to optimize GarageBand's performance so that it will be able to play all the tracks you have configured. Or, you can delete some of the tracks, record the new track, and then add the other tracks back in. Lastly, you can mute tracks during the recording session to decrease the amount of resources needed to play the song while GarageBand records what you play.
