Getting from Slide to Slide with Transitions

To move from slide to slide in Impress, click to advance to the next slide and right-click to go backwards. If you don't want to use the mouse, you can use the Page Up/Page Down keys.

But to add a little more excitement, you might want to have one slide fade into another or have the current slide checkerboard into the next one. Impress has many different slide transition effects you can use. Use the Tasks pane to choose which ones you want.

Viewing the Tasks pane in the main window.

You can turn the Tasks pane on or off by selecting View > Task Pane from the main Impress toolbar.

Choose the slide you want to transition from, and then select the transition effect from the Tasks pane and the Slide Transition menu.

Choosing a slide to transition.

You can apply the same transition to all slides by clicking the Apply to All Slides button at the bottom of the Slide Transition menu. You can also apply a transition to certain slides by holding down the Ctrl key while clicking the ones you want.
