Many newer printers connect via a USB cable. This type of connection is often easier to configure than the older parallel connection.
Connect one end of a USB cable to the matching USB port on your printer.
Connect the other end of the USB cable to a USB port on the back of your system unit.
Connect the printer's power cable to a power outlet.
TIP
Advantages of USB
Because they can be connected without powering down your PC, USB printers can be moved between computers more easily than printers that use the older parallel connection. In addition, USB cables are a lot thinner than parallel cables, so if your space is tight, this is the way to go.
