Outlook Administrator Pack

If your organization is using Microsoft Outlook 98, Outlook 2000, Outlook 2002, or Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 with a server that has server-side security, such as Microsoft Exchange Server, you can customize the security features to meet your organization’s needs. For example, you can control the types of attached files blocked by Outlook, modify the Outlook Object Model warning notifications, and specify user- or group-security levels.

The Outlook Administrator Pack consists of four files, packaged into one self-extracting executable file. When you run the executable file, the following files are copied to a location you specify:

  • Comdlg32.ocx—A file used by the Trusted Code control that provides a user interface for selecting the trusted COM add-in.

  • Hashctl.dll—A file used by the Trusted Code control to specify trusted COM add-ins.

  • OutlookSecurity.oft—An Outlook template that enables you to customize the security settings on the Microsoft Exchange server.

  • Readme.doc—A document that provides information about the values and settings available in the OutlookSecurity.oft template and describes how to deploy the new settings on Exchange Server.

Install the Outlook Administrator Pack

The Outlook Administrator Pack is copied to your computer by the Microsoft Office 2003 Editions Resource Kit Setup program, but you must install the files separately. To install the Outlook Administrator Pack, run Admpack.exe from the \Program Files\ORKTools\ORK11\TOOLS\Outlook Administrator Pack folder on your computer. This executable file will copy the four administrative files to a location you specify.

The Outlook Administrator Pack can also be downloaded from the Toolbox on the Office 2003 Resource Kit Web site.
