When building business solutions, you almost always have to include support for databases. Two types of relational databases, file-based and client/server databases, are commonly used today. This lesson describes a relational database, and discusses the features that file-based and client/server databases offer, and for which tasks each is better suited.

After this lesson, you will be able to:
  • Describe how a relational database is structured.
  • Explain the difference between file-based and client/server relational databases.
  • Determine when to use each type of relational database.
