Category Best Bets

Category Best Bets are documents that a coordinator selects as highly relevant to a particular category. For example, the XML category might have the XML Homepage as a category Best Bet. SharePoint Portal Server visually promotes Category Best Bets in category listings on the dashboard site, just like keyword Best Bets in search results.

You enable category Best Bets by adding a Category Best Bets property to the base document profile. When the dashboard site displays a category, it checks the Category Best Bets property to determine if it should visually promote the document.

You can configure category Best Bets on a document using the Search and Categories property page. As you assign the document to categories, SharePoint Portal Server lists those categories as values in the Best Bets area for selection. You can also assign shortcuts to external content as Best Bets. Figure 17.4 illustrates both methods of category assignment.
