Properties

Properties

Various entities within Content Management Server, such as pages, postings, and channels, have properties associated with them. Some properties are built-in, and defining custom properties can extend the properties associated with some entities.

Properties can be read and written using the appropriate user interface(s) or using the Content Management Server Publishing Application Programming Interface (API). The script code within both navigation templates and page templates is often written so that it examines various properties of current postings and channels in order to create the appropriate content for the current page. For example, within a given channel, postings for which the IsImportant property is set to True might be displayed more prominently than postings for which the IsImportant property is set to False.
