User Interface Support for Shopper-Centric Security

Business managers use the Users module in the Profiles category to manually reset shopper passwords. One scenario during which this interface is likely to be used is when a retail Web site employs a system in which shoppers are provided a way to report forgotten passwords and in which they are sent a new password in an e-mail message. Even so, a more sophisticated solution could avoid requiring any manual involvement by business managers and automate the entire process using the appropriate Commerce Server objects.

Another scenario in which Web site operators may use a user interface to manage a type of security that is of explicit concern to the shopper is when a Web site administrator directly uses SQL Server interfaces to properly secure the databases in which profile information is stored.
