The following sections describe the IBM IMS application management tools. IMS Batch Backout Manager for z/OS, V1 The IMS Batch Backout Manager for z/OS: Helps automate the normally manual task of backing out database updates after an IMS batch application failure. Reduces the downtime associated with an application failure and improves database availability. Provides automation of the batch backout process after specific application abends. Dynamically handles log close and allocation. Forces allocation of batch SLDSs for jobs with no logs allocated (either by specific or by generic job name). Program number: 5697-H75 IBM IMS Batch Terminal Simulator for z/OS, V3 The IBM IMS Batch Terminal Simulator for z/OS: Provides a comprehensive way to test and check IMS application program logic, IMS application interfaces, teleprocessing activity, 3270 format control blocks, and database activity. Simulates the operation of IMS applications in TSO and batch environments. Operates transparently to the applications, requiring no changes to IMS code, control blocks, libraries, or application load modules. Accesses DL/I and DB2 databases from TSO terminals. Provides a stable online system in test and production environments to execute applications properly before they are put online. Provides audit reporting and Java language support. Program number: 5655-J57 IBM IMS Connect for z/OS, V2.2 The IBM IMS Connect for z/OS tool: Supports communications with IMS between one or more TCP/IP clients and one or more IMS systems. Supports SMP installability; dump and trace formatting enhancements for increased serviceability; user exit routines, command improvement, and asynchronous output support for enhanced usability. Provides Unicode support, enabling a Unicode application to send data to an IMS host application, such as a Java application that is running in IMS. Provides ACK/NAK required notification support without additional testing of data received. Reduces the design and coding effort of a client application by including the full message length preceding the output message to the client. Uses the VisualAge® for Java IMS Connector for Java to create Java applications that can access IMS transactions from WebSphere Application Servers for z/OS and OS/390. Offers WebSphere Adapter support with the addition of the IMS Connector for Java J2EE Runtime support. Supports two-phase commit for distributed environments across TCP/IP, providing for a WebSphere Application Server in a non-OS/390, non-z/OS environment to connect to IMS through IMS Connect (with IMS and IMS Connect initially in the same LPAR). Provides enhanced security items, such as Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), the capability to control the security environment, and "trusted user" support. Provides Message Format Services (MFS) Web Services support to enable IMS customers to publish existing MFS-based IMS applications on the Internet as Web Services. Includes command enhancements for ease of manageability. Contains Commit Mode 0 / Persistent Socket to improve performance. Supports IMS Connect Extensions for z/OS, V1.1, to enhance performance and availability reporting. Has cancel timer support to enhance usability. IMS Connector for Java also adds Commit Mode 0 / Persistent Socket for improved performance, socket timeout for enhanced usability, and retry to broaden availability. Program number: 5655-K52 IBM IMS Connect Extensions for z/OS, V1 The IBM IMS Connect Extensions for z/OS, V1: Enhance the basic capabilities of the IMS Connect for z/OS, V2.2, tool. Provide performance monitoring capabilities by creating and collecting performance and accounting information for IMS Connect activities. Provide enhanced services for customer user exit routines: dynamic exit reload without interruption of IMS Connect execution, and adding or removing exits without interruption of IMS Connect execution. Include flexible resource definitions for the grouping of resource types, such as data store and transactions. Have expanded control of client input messages, which includes dynamic routing of messages to multiple Data Stores, and includes dynamic resource controls. Allow external control of IMS Connect Extension by the ISPF console. Include security items, such as a special RACF class for client access control, USERID SAF profile caching, refreshing of SAF profiles by command, and verifying client access to IMS Connect resources. Contain performance monitoring extensions that provide performance measurements and basic reporting, with more extensive reporting being provided by the IBM IMS Performance Analyzer for z/OS tool. Program number: 5655-K48 IBM IMS Message Format Services Reversal Utilities for z/OS, V1 The IBM IMS Message Format Services Reversal Utilities for z/OS: Include the MFS Reversal and MFS Compare utilities in the package. Convert Message Format Services MID, MOD, DIF, and DOF control blocks back into Message Format Services utility control statements. Help you recover the source and compare deltas if you lose your MFS source library or suspect a difference between the generated control blocks and the source. Provide useful summary reports of the IMS FORMAT library that show the relationships among the members. Program number: 5655-F45 IBM IMS Program Restart Facility for OS/390, V2 The IBM IMS Program Restart Facility for OS/390: Automatically assigns the most recent checkpoint ID to jobs that are restarted because of an earlier abnormal termination. Forces an extended restart to occur for all jobs that require restart. Helps prevent corruption resulting from restarting an abended job without specifying a restart checkpoint ID. Saves costly and time-consuming database recoveries caused by manual restart errors. Reduces the risk of data being unavailable or becoming corrupt. Program number: 5655-E14 |
