Restoring Your Library

If you change location, purchase a new computer, or experience a drive failure, you can easily restore your Aperture Library from your vault.

1.

Connect your drive containing your most recent vault.

2.

Open Aperture.

3.

Choose File > Vault > Restore Library.

The Restore Library dialog appears.

4.

From the Source Vault pop-up menu choose Select Source Vault.

5.

Navigate to your backup vault, then click Select.

6.

From the Library Destination pop-up menu choose Select Destination, navigate to your desired Library location, then click Select.

Note

The default setting for the Library destination is your Pictures folder in your home directory. If you wish to save your Library to your Pictures folder, you can skip step 6.

7.

Click Restore and then click Restore again.

Depending on the size of your image Library, your backup vault may take several minutes to fully restore. You will, however, be able to access and view your images as they are added to your new Library.
