Drive Failures

One nice thing about most drives other than your booting hard drive is that there is usually very little they can do by themselves to make your system fail. You need other drives, such as a floppy drive, when your booting hard drive won’t boot.

Since this topic is the entire focus of Chapter 17, “Resurrecting a Dead Hard Drive,” you can either jump ahead if you need the answer to a specific problem, or wait until you get there. I’ll give you one clue, however: Always check the BIOS Setup. Most if not all of your drives should be listed there.
