Nile Books

Nile Books is another rewrite of a traditional platform sample in this case, the Nile Books Doculabs benchmark application. It uses performance-enhancing techniques that are similar to those demonstrated in the other Microsoft case studies, including caching output, stored procedures, and component service providers. Unfortunately, the sample is less useful for learning than it is for benchmarking. There is no Visual Studio .NET project support, the ASP.NET is written inline along with the user interface markup in .aspx files, and there is no setup program to automate the creation of a virtual directory and insertion of database information. The other case studies are generally more useful. You can download Nile Books (in C# code only) from http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en-us/dnbda/html/bdasampnilecs.asp.
