The Web is made up primarily of two forms of traffic: HTTP and HTTPS. Between the two of them, these protocols are subjected to nearly 100% of all Web attacks. Firewalls can't stop these attacks, and few IDSs can detect them. Why? Because hackers know how to manipulate and use them to their advantage.
