Variation: Create a crown using the Cookie Cutter tool

By now you may be familiar with Cookie Cutter tool. If you haven't used it yet, now is your chance! Just like the name implies, it cuts out a shape using the selected layer in the layers palette. This means that the layer can be a photo, pattern, or plain color- you decide. This variation shows you how to use the Cookie Cutter tool with a plain color but once you master that there is no limit to what you can use.

Create a new file. Choose File > New > Blank. Select 8x10 inches with at least 150-300 ppi for resolution.

Fill your background layer with a color. Double-click the background layer to convert it to a layer that can be edited. Click on the color swatch to bring up the Color Picker and select a color for your crown. Next, choose Edit > Fill Layer and select Foreground Color from the pop-up, then click OK.

Pick your crown! Select the Cookie Cutter tool. Click Shape on the options bar, then click the arrow to open the Shapes library. Choose Show All. Find your favorite crown, and drag the shape over your color layer. Press Enter to apply the shape.
