About the Authors

Abe Martey, CCIE #2373, is a product manager at the Cisco Internet PoP Systems Business Unit (IPSBU), which is the home of the Cisco 12000 Internet Router Series. Abe focuses on high-speed IP routing systems and related technologies. Prior to this position, Abe held various support engineering positions , including time at the Cisco Technical Assistance Center on the IP Routing Protocols Team and later on the ISP Team (now Internet Engineering Services Team), where he developed special interest in the IS-IS routing protocol. Abe holds a masters degree in electrical engineering and has been with Cisco Systems for six years .

Scott Sturgess, CCIE #2346, is a technical leader within the Core IP Engineering's Deployment and Scalability Team, where he is primarily involved in the advancement of link-state routing protocols. Now in his sixth year at Cisco Systems, Scott held various roles from customer support to consultancy, focusing on IP routing protocols and Internet architecture, primarily within the Internet service provider arena. Scott holds a first class honors degree in electrical and electronic engineering.
