About This Chapter

This chapter and the next one take you through the restructure process. The topics covered include the different types of restructure, the planning process for a restructure, and a discussion of tools that might make the transition to Windows NT smoother.

This chapter is important to those directly involved in the performance of Windows NT restructuring in a migration to Windows 2000. The chapter's practices lead you through the steps of restructuring your domain configuration to an appropriate Windows 2000 Active Directory structure. The chapter also describes tools that you can use to perform a restructure and gives examples of their use.

Before You Begin

To complete this chapter you must have

  • Read at least Chapters 1 through 5 to have the foundation of knowledge required for this chapter. You should also have a thorough knowledge of Microsoft Windows NT domains and Microsoft Windows 2000 domains and Active Directory directory services.
  • Two machines networked together and capable of running both Windows NT Server and Windows 2000 Server.
