While software can do all sorts of amazing things, such as changing the color of a photograph, it's particularly adept at the types of tedious tasks that most people find painfully boring. Sorting this or finding copies of that are the types of repetitive tasks that applications are good at.

Many tedious, repetitive tasks in a digital photography workflow can be simplified using Aperture. You've already seen how the Lift and Stamp tools can be used to speed the process of applying the same edits to multiple images, but Aperture has other capabilities that make it possible to streamline your work.

If you ever shoot with a tethered setup (that is, with your camera connected directly to your computer so that you can immediately download and review your images), then you'll appreciate Aperture's facility for automatically importing images from the camera.

If you work in a production environment, then you'll want to take a look at how you can automate the importing of images from other people in your workgroup. In this lesson, we'll introduce you to two possibilities.
