Summary

Mac OS X is a Unix operating system. It is built upon open standards, providing preemptive multitasking, symmetric multiprocessing, protected memory, and advanced memory management, as well as world-class graphics capabilities. Though it may be complex in design on the inside, on the surface, it retains its world-class usability and visual appearance that customers expect of the Mac OS.
