Chapter 14. External Style Sheets

For a style sheet to influence the presentation of a document, the two have to be linked together. In the HTML examples we have seen so far, the style sheets have been inserted into the document using the STYLE element (see Chapter 2, "CSS") and the STYLE attribute (see Chapter 4, "CSS selectors"). Chapter 16, "XML documents," shows a way to link to an external style sheet from a document. This chapter details how to use external style sheets, both from HTML and XML documents. The quickest way to start using external style sheets is to point to one that already exists on the Web. W3C has published a suite of core style sheets that are also described in this chapter.
