INTRODUCTION

You can adjust the top, bottom, left, and right margins for a single page or for your entire document. For example, you might need to fit a large amount of text on one page and therefore need to increase the margins for the document's printable area.

TIP

Portrait and Landscape

If you need to alter your page's orientation from portrait to landscape or increase the size of your document (for example, to legal size 8.5"x14"), modify the settings in the Paper Size tab on the Page Setup dialog box.

TIP

Page Setup

You can also open the File menu, select Page Setup, and select the Margins tab to change the margins. Word's default margins are 1" for the top and bottom and 1.25" for the left and right.
