Aims of This Chapter

The preceding chapter discussed how to automate the generation of baseline and change request reports. The format of these reports, however, was more or less limited to simple text output. Although the most important aspect of any report is its content, presenting information in a more accessible and consistent format is often the key to the content's being used well. ClearCase has one final capability for reportingbuild auditing, which you can use to report on the exact environment and element versions that go into a build. After reading this chapter, you will be able to

• Define a standard XML format for label or baseline reports.

• Leverage Ant tasks for generating an XML formatted label and baseline reports.

• Transform the XML reports into HTML.

• Customize the CruiseControl Build Results web to display the content of an XML label or baseline report.

• Invoke an audited ClearCase build and report on its results.

This chapter assumes that you are familiar with the basic concepts of ClearCase baseline reporting, as discussed in Chapter 8, "Baseline and Change Request Reports."
