Summary

Stored procedures provide a powerful mechanism for storing application code on the database server. They improve performance, enhance the security of the application, and can support legacy data sources to DB2-based programs running on the mainframe and on other platforms. Workload Manager provides many benefits for stored procedures and as of version 8 is required.

The new DB2 Development Center also offers many new options for developing and deploying stored procedures.
