Double an award’s impact by celebrating twice! First, with personal congratulations for the upcoming award and second, with the actual award presentation.

Bill Johnson learned this lesson when he was recognized in 1980 as one of McDonald’s Canada’s first recipients of the President’s Award, given to the top 1 percent of McDonald’s employees worldwide. George Cohon, then president and McDonald’s Canada founder, called Bill into his office to tell him the great news.

Recalls Bill, “George’s words of encouragement and his personal congratulations meant more to me than the award itself.”
