Bill Johnson learned this lesson when he was recognized in 1980 as one of McDonald’s Canada’s first recipients of the President’s Award, given to the top 1 percent of McDonald’s employees worldwide. George Cohon, then president and McDonald’s Canada founder, called Bill into his office to tell him the great news.
