Acknowledgments

No matter how good a roll I get into when writing a book, I always find myself a little at a loss for words when it comes time to write this page. Putting a book like this together takes a lot of work from a lot of different people. I’m always somewhat amazed when the flurry of research, e-mail, writing, rewriting, and proofreading are finished and then suddenly, there’s this book in your hands.

I’m even more amazed when a project this size rolls along smoothly from start to finish, but that’s exactly what happened, thanks to the great folks at Microsoft Learning. I’d like to thank everyone who helped out with this book during its various stages. Kathy Harding, our acquisitions editor, believed in the project and in me. Julie Pickering, our project manager, worked hard to make sure that this book was published on schedule. Elise Morrison did a wonderful job coordinating all the stages of this book, providing feedback, and making sure that the book was of the highest quality. Randall Galloway, our technical editor, pored over every detail and made sure that I actually knew what I was talking about. I’d like to thank Shawn Peck, Nancy Sixsmith, Melissa von Tschudi-Sutton, and Sandi Resnick for all their help as well.

Thanks also go to Greg Winston, who developed the MiniDir Exchange Server simulation tool, and to Daniel Akins, who wrote the defrag.vbs script for running Disk Defragmenter automatically so that it can be scheduled. Both of these tools are included on the book’s companion CD.

Finally, as always, I’d like to thank Neil Salkind and everyone else at StudioB for helping put this project together.

Walter Glenn
