Styles and loops

Of course, there are many styles within this genre House, Garage, Trance, Drum & Bass, Hip Hop and Ambient to name just a few but when used as background music the actual style is not so important. What is important is the general impression that the product being plugged, or the program being watched, is cool and up-to-date! Unlike most dance music there is sometimes a strong melodic line and more harmonic movement involved but the key ingredient is always rhythm. Drum & Bass loops are the most prominent features.

There are many excellent loops available from companies such as PocketFuel, and these can often make a good starting point. I have made use of a PocketFuel loop myself in Project 9. Searching through hundreds of loops can be time-consuming and often it is quicker to make your own, particularly if you have a specific brief to work to. This is after all, far more creative. And where's an ideal place to construct loops? Logic Audio for one! Once you have made one or two, confidence grows, and before you know it you may well have a large library of your own original loops.
