Traffic engineering has become an extremely important tool for ISPs as they struggle to keep pace with the ever-increasing volume of Internet traffic. The approach of Juniper Networks and the IETF to traffic engineering are MPLS applications that provide a traffic engineering solution based on the Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS), Resource Reservation Protocol (RSVP), and Label Distribution Protocol (LDP).
