Anesthetics
A. Lidocaine
See Analgesics, p. 155; ICU Drips, p. 172.
B. Thiopental
50-mg test dose; then 100-200 mg. Onset 30 sec, lasts 5 min; consciousness returns in 30 min.
C. Propofol
Give 10-20 mg (=1-2 cc) q10sec until induction. Effective in refractory status epilepticus.
D. Methohexital
More potent and shorter action than thiopental. Can induce seizures.
