Too Many Holidays

I mistakenly added holidays to my calendar four times. Now every major holiday has four separate events listed. I get four reminders for every holiday as well. Is there a way I can remove the duplicate holidays?

Yes, there is an easy way you can remove the duplicate holidays using the following steps.

  1. Within your Calendar folder, switch to a Table view such as Events.

  2. Select View, Arrange By, Current View, Customize Current View to display the Customize View dialog box.

  3. Click the Fields button to display the Show Fields dialog box.

  4. In the Available Fields list, select Created and click Add.

  5. Click OK twice to exit and return to your view.

  6. Click the Created column to sort your events by that column.

  7. As you scroll through the list of events, you'll see that there are holidays created on specific days (the date you actually clicked the Add Holidays button in Outlook's Options dialog). Find all the events created on the day in question and delete them. You can delete multiple items at once by clicking the first item, holding down the Shift key, and then clicking the last item. When you've selected all the items, click Delete.

  8. If you added all the instances of the holidays on the same day, it's probably easier to delete all the holidays and then add a new set in when you're done.

Appointment Information Is Truncated in Month View

When I set my calendar to Month view, some of the information previously visible for my appointments is cut off. Can I fix this?

As you display more days in your Outlook calendar, the available space for each day decreases. Unfortunately, Month view provides the least amount of space per day. Appointments with long subjects are truncated in Month view, but there are a few workarounds that can help mitigate the situation. Try changing the fonts used to display and print your appointments. By selecting a smaller font, you can display more information on the screen and when printing. In addition, hovering your mouse cursor over the truncated appointment will display the full subject, start time, and end time of the appointment. This feature does not work for events, however.

All-Day Events Span Two Days After a Change in Time Zones

When I travel to another time zone and change the local time in my Outlook calendar, all of my holidays and all-day events appear to span two days. Can I fix this?

Your events span two days because of the way Outlook creates all-day events. The event is created with a start time and end time of 12:00 a.m. (midnight to midnight). If you then change time zones from mountain time to pacific time, the event now runs from 11 p.m. to 11 p.m., a span of two days. To fix this, open the event, change the start and end times, and then select the All-Day Event check box. You'll have to reset this event again when you reset your time zone. If you choose to ignore this switch in all-day events when you're traveling, the events will again become all-day events spanning one day when you return to your home time zone.

Some Events Are Missing

When I try to view a day with a large number of events, I can only see the first 15 events. Can I display more than 15 events?

No, unfortunately, Outlook allocates a finite amount of space to the event area. Only 15 events can appear at any one time. In Month view, you'll see only 5 events at a time. A workaround would be to create a Table view grouped by start date, and view events that way for days with large numbers of events.
