Summary

In this hour, you have learned about the wide variety of data sources that Crystal Reports supports. You should now understand the concept of database drivers and how Crystal Reports uses them to connect to these various data sources some of them directly, and some through industry standard data access layers like ODBC and OLE DB.

You have also had an introduction to the first step in the Report Wizard: the Data Explorer. You have learned how to specify a database driver and database connection information, as well as add tables, views, stored procedures, and SQL Commands to a report.

You have learned how to publish SQL Commands to the repository for future use and maintenance. Finally, because multiple database objects can be added to a report, you've learned how to define links between the tables.
