8.6 Prioritizing cybersecurity research

 < Day Day Up >

In general, the government has multiple layers and sources of input when it comes to prioritizing research and development agendas. However, it may be in the best interest of an organization to participate in the process of setting priorities for cybersecurity research. This will most likely depend on the industry sector in which the organization operates and the level of dependency that an organization has on computer systems or networks. It may also be influenced by past experiences such as system attacks.

If IT managers have an interest in making recommendations on cybersecurity research, they should contact DHS, the NIST, or their local congressional representatives for guidance on how to best participate.
