SUMMARY

This chapter introduced Generator and JGenerator, and showed how these server-side tools can be used to create dynamic Flash content to be deployed on devices.

Because Generator and JGenerator use templates to author content, developers can develop in a more modular fashion serving different versions of files depending on the Flash Player available. In fact, if no Flash Player is available, alternative media, such as an animated GIF based on the same data, can be created and served. This virtually ensures that the content will be available to the user regardless of the capabilities of the device on which it is being viewed.

Finally, by embedding dynamic data into the Flash movie before it is sent to the device, developers can take advantage of the abilities of ActionScript to create Flash movies based on dynamic data even if it is being viewed on a device that does not have a connection to a network.
