Welcome to Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007!

This is, by far, the most exciting collaboration and information management product that Microsoft has ever released. There are 27 products that now exist under the Microsoft Office brand, and SharePoint Products and Technologies is taking center stage within the 2007 Microsoft Office system with the release of Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007. You'll find, in the coming years, that SharePoint will continue to be the platform of choice for Web application development as well as information sharing and presentation.

Office SharePoint Server 2007 is a robust, stable platform upon which you can build Web-based applications, collaborate with colleagues on important projects, comply with many Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 1992 (SOX) and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) requirements, and create a one-stop location to find all the information you and your users will need to be successful. SharePoint Server 2007 is built on the .NET Framework 3.0 and the Windows Workflow Foundation (WF) and can work with ASP.NET 1.1 and 2.0 Web Parts. In addition, SharePoint Server 2007 runs on the Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 or later platform and can work with either Microsoft SQL Server 2000 or SQL Server 2005. (Note that Microsoft SQL Server 2005 is required for the business intelligence features to run properly.)
