802.11d

The thorny problem of getting wireless networking to interoperate throughout the developed world was the point of IEEE task group 802.11d. The United States, Japan, and most of Europe had regulations on frequency and bandwidth that more or less harmonized; the 802.11d group basically clarified the rules for manufacturers who wished to extend their markets to several other countries with different regulations. The work of this group is complete and has been adopted as part of the larger 802.11 standard. It's not of much interest, however, unless you're a manufacturer looking to sell wireless gear in places like Israel or Korea.
