Chapter 8. Router and Switch Security

Routers and switches are an integral part of present-day networks. Hardening the routers and switches against potential attacks is an essential part of a Netadmin's duties. This chapter covers the tools used for the following tasks:

• Securing Cisco routers

• Securing Cisco switches

This chapter includes references to many of the security features offered by Cisco routers and switches; however, the primary goal of this chapter is to introduce some of the commonly available tools for testing and implementing security on Cisco routers and switches.
