A1: | As the name suggests, you can lock certain aspects of a layer. Here are the options (from left to right in the Layers palette):

Q2: | Is there a quick way to lock a bunch of layers? Can I do this other than one at a time?

A2: | Yes, select the layers (by Shift-clicking or Command-clicking [PC: Control-clicking] on them), then from the Layers palette's flyout choose Lock Layers. |
Q3: | Is there a quick way to turn the Lock commands on and off? |
A3: | Select your layer(s) and press the Forward Slash key (/) to turn the Lock functions on and off. If any Lock function is already checked, this shortcut will turn that function on and off. If nothing has been locked, this shortcut will toggle on and off the Lock Transparent Pixels and Lock Position functions. |
