You've looked at many of the decisions a good solution architect needs to makeand make correctlyto have a chance at success. Making a mistake in the logical design phase can often create an application that performs poorly, doesn't scale, doesn't meet the needs of the business community, or worse, doesn't run at all. As when you're building a house, a poor blueprint almost always leads to a poor result. Before you can see how logical design translates into the physical world, you need to look at one more part of logical design: the data model. Because of its importance, both in real life and on the exam, I've used a separate chapter (Chapter 8) to cover this information. Study the next chapter carefully, as data modeling seems to be a topic that tripped up a lot of developers on the 70-100 exam. First, take some time to test your knowledge on the following practice questions. |
