Microsoft s Offerings

Microsoft's Offerings

Microsoft has spent a great deal of time and money bringing much of its information and offerings online so that users can access product-related information quickly and easily.

FrontPage's Area at Microsoft.com

FrontPage's area at Microsoft is largely and commonly a marketing effort but contains regularly updated information on FrontPage related issues deemed important by Microsoft. It should not be your only FrontPage reference online, but it should be monitored on a regular basis.

The FrontPage Community Page

Microsoft is currently heavily promoting the concept of "community" surrounding each of its products. Although this approach is yet unproven and constantly changing, the FrontPage Community site offers great links to FrontPage sites, solid information, and great product support. It also serves as a great jumping off point for other members and sites in the FrontPage Community.

The FrontPage Add-in Center

The Add-in Center was designed as a place for developers to submit add-ins for FrontPage to be shared with the larger FrontPage Community. It is by no means an exhaustive resource and contains as many demos as fully functional products, but it remains a great place to find ways to extend FrontPage.

The FrontPage Fanzine

The FrontPage Fanzine is Microsoft's free monthly email newsletter that highlights information available at Microsoft and third-party Web sites. This link also provides and archive of previous issues.

The Web Presence Provider Program

Web Presence Providers (WPPs) provide Web site hosting services for FrontPage or SharePoint Team Services. They are certified by Microsoft to fully support the products. If you are not sure where to host your FrontPage Web site, this would be a great place to look.

The FrontPage MVPs

Microsoft has an MVP (Most Valuable Professional) program that highlights the efforts of non-Microsoft employees to promote and support their products in the marketplace. The FrontPage MVPs represent a tremendous amount of FrontPage learning and experience outside of the Microsoft bubble.

Author Paul Colligan is a FrontPage MVP.

The FrontPage Area at MSDN

MSDN (Microsoft Developer Network) is a resource for the more technically minded user of Microsoft products. The FrontPage area of MSDN is updated on a regular basis with developer-specific FrontPage related information.
