Moving Forward

Getting your reports right is just as important as getting the general usability right in the rest of your software. Don’t skip corners and forget that users are reading your reports and that the reports have their own usability issues.

In the next chapter, I take the notion of displaying data on the screen to the next level and talk about what issues you’re going to be dealing with when adding a full web interface to your product. You have many options in doing so, such as embedding a web browser right in your application or having your application read HTML pages from the web and process them accordingly. And as usual, remember as you’re reading forward that the goal here is designing highly useable software.
