Hyperlinks are an essential and defining feature of the World Wide Web, and a skillfully designed navigational system is one of the highest-priority considerations in the creation of a website. In this chapter, you learned about linking URLs, about how links appear in the browser, and what these appearances say to the user. You looked at email links and named anchors, and you tried out several widely used types of navigation controls: image maps, jump menus, linked rollover images, and multistate navigation bars. You also got to take your links beyond the basics, using URL parameters, CSS formatting, and JavaScript in links. Now you're all set to go places on the web!
