When you double-click the start_here.html file, you open a home page for the CD in your Web browser. The home page provides links to the following pages:
Web Resource Links: This section of the home page displays a group of links to individual pages containing the four main types of resources: hardware (computer and peripheral equipment), software (programs and calculators), services available over the Web (such as fax-to-PDF conversion and domain registration), and recommended books that cover the technologies I mention in this book. The book link is to a page on the Web, not on the CD, so you'll need an Internet connection to access it. (You can order any of the books from that page.)
Templates: This section contains links to pages listing the print and Web template files included on the CD. If you have the appropriate software installed on your computer, you simply click a link from these pages to open a template file. However, you'll probably want to copy the templates files from the CD's folders to your computer.
Software on the CD: This section contains links to pages listing the free and trial software and Excel calculators included onthe CD, as well as a link to the page containing HTML code snippets you can use in your Web pages. You can install the software from the CD, either double-click the setup program from the CD itself or click its link from the CD's software Web page. You can open the Excel spreadsheet-based tools the same way, but I recommend copying them first to your hard drive so you can then save any data you enter into them.
Other CD Resources: This section contains links to pages that list the PDF content on the CD: the chapter quizzes and the ergonomics how-to file. Just click the links to open the files in your Web browser. Alternately, you can open these files in Adobe Reader or another PDF-compatible program directly from the CD.
