10.3 Summary

This book has advocated use cases for software requirements and other things as well. We feel that use cases are an important tool in helping people take a hard look at what they want from something, whether it's a piece of software, a department, service offering, or even a new kitchen. The "black box" approach of use cases makes them especially useful. It's likely that other techniques will come along that are even better in this or other ways, but for now we have use cases.
