6.2 What Are Focused Use Cases?

Focused use cases build on the work you have performed thus far. You make difficult choices about the current project, decide on the feature set, determine the scope, and eliminate duplication.

Focused use cases describe the users' interaction with a system. You hone each interaction to provide a solution to a limited set of business problems. At this point, you have analyzed the business sufficiently to remove contradictory requirements and to describe from a business perspective how the use cases share functionality and assist one another in reaching an understood goal. This varies considerably from the output of the Filled iteration. Focused use cases are clear and crisp. There is no additional detail, and the focus of the system is apparent.
