The following components of the SAP Assistant package are also available as stand-alone tools.
DCOM Connector logon component. This component provides a logon screen and parameters for obtaining a connection from the end user. It allows the user to define the destination system.
Repository services. This tool allows you to access business objects and RFC function modules in the R/3 system to COM-complaint programs and applications. It also lets you save a copy of the metadata in a local database. Using a local database provides a local caching mechanism to speed up access to the metadata.
BAPI Gateway. The BAPI gateway allows you to dynamically call BAPIs and RFCs through the DCOM Connector.
Repository Browser. The repository browser is also called the SAP Browser Control. An ActiveX control can be hosted by any ActiveX container, and consists of a window with two panes for browsing SAP BAPI and RFC metadata information. The browser supports online calling of RFC functions from within the control.
