Summary

A GroupWise system is a combination of logical and physical components that work in harmony with one another:

• GroupWise Administrator: The snap-in software in conjunction with ConsoleOne.

• The GroupWise Directory: The combination of GroupWise domains and post offices, and Novell eDirectory.

• The Message Transfer System: The GroupWise MTA and POA.

• The GroupWise Message Store: The collection of files and directories in a GroupWise post office that contains all the mail messages and other items in user mailboxes.

• The GroupWise Client: Your end users' tools for reading mail, sending new mail, and collaborating with each other.

Chapter 2, "Creating a GroupWise System," Chapter 3, "Understanding the GroupWise Directory," and Chapter 4, "Understanding the GroupWise Information Store," will expose you to each of these components from an architectural standpoint.
