If you've applied a mask to an image and decide you no longer want it or would like a different mask, you can delete it. Because the mask is a layer by itself, you only need to delete the Mask layer. If you have already flattened the layers, however, you can no longer remove the mask. (This is another good reason to save the image as a .psp file with the layers intact.)
NOTE
If you loaded the mask onto its own layer, you might want to delete that layer as well.
